No TIT-'Kismet'-Authentic Human Poetry

AI is not actually artificial intelligence. More accurately, it is a technical imitative tool or TIT. With the plethora of sites offering free tools to engage you so you’ll try them, then tempting you with more sophisticated tools for a price; TIT (AI) use is increasing by the day. People of all ages in every location where the internet functions, seem keen to hand over their human creativity to a tech tool. Not me.

Introducing “Kismet” a volume of authentic poetry. The poetry of encounters.

In all my creative writing, I persist with the struggle to find the right word with my own brain, to describe a nuance, to be original. Many writers have given over to technical tools for their writing, for ease and speed.

However, the choices offered by these TITs are deliberately guided choices. The same ones are offered to everyone. An imposed group think and group steered expression. You are not unique. You are being stealthily programmed. In some cases “toned down” subtly. In nanoseconds these tech tools can aptly ape your writing style and your voice by gleaning samples from your online presence. After only a few attempts, it becomes difficult to distinguish between the actual “you” and the technically created doppelgänger “you”. Your writing, your voice and even your movements.

TIT/AI has become the new SOMA-from Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. The fictional drug used by the controlling state to maintain its version of social stability. It is a substance utilized to induce suppression of thought and expression - painlessly.

Throughout human history, poets have been the foretellers, the percipient transcribers, the voice for the marginalized, the champions of the divergent, the bold emoters and cryptic mystics. Every culture has its cherished poets-the majority of whom are celebrated, are men. Yet, statistically, most readers of poetry are women. Curious isn’t it…

This week I humbly submit my contribution to human endeavor in the field of poetry. I wrote and recorded my poems. No AI or TIT were used for these works. Will I soon be one of the only, truly authentic and truly free writers in this TIT/AI landscape?

Regardless, with all my imperfections as a human being, I shall continue in my heart and mind to encourage the nexus between earth and sky, heavens and oceans, all living beings and all divine guidance as manna for my poetic deliveries to you.

The ideal way to receive these is a combination of reading and listening. Thereby leaving room for your imagination and experience to meld with mine. To that purpose I have on offer, both a Kindle version and an Audible version of “Kismet” by Jo Patti available on Amazon at this page (click on the underline).

I value other poet’s reviews of my work. Here is Alaskan poet Don Rearden’s appraisal of Kismet:

“Powerful and personal poems with heart and vision pouring off each page. This is a poet who has seen the world and all the facets and intricacies of beauty and brawn, bloodshed and passion”.

Susannah Whaley of New Zealand Booklovers wrote:

“Like the cover, what’s inside is elegant with substance. Jo’s poems draw the reader into a conversation which gives a sense of her perspective on life and people, and a sense of their randomness and beauty. The reader is left with plenty to think about.”

My poems are written as a recursive parade of narrative memories. Some are “true stories”, others are a collage over time interwoven with other’s stories shared with me.

Every event noted happened. What I couldn’t speak about, I wrote about. A re-tuning of trauma and ecstasy. A plea for exorcising and even understanding. Distinctly human yearnings. Do you grok?!

May you find common ground and fellow feeling in these poems. After all, we are all related. We humans all have blue blood beneath our flesh. We have beating hearts, discerning minds and ears, open eyes and yearning spirits if we are alive.

Don’t be lulled in to techno comfort. Don’t go back to sleep. Get off the TIT. Wean away from virtual immersion. Don’t be afraid to be unique and to make mistakes.

As always, your reaction and feedback to my writing is welcome.
